Comics, International Perspectives

Next spring the course Comics, International Perspectives will be launched at the School of Arts and Communication at Malmö University. The course, which is the first in its kind in Sweden, takes an international view of comics and the goal is to give students a good foundation for reaching the international market.
The course focuses on Franco-Belgian, American and Japanese comics cultures – everything from Tintin, Asterix and Spirou, to manga, graphic novels and superheroes. Initially, the students will study and draw comics from all three areas, and later on they will specialize in one of them.
The course, which will be taught in English full-time during the spring semester, will also create new possibilities for exchange and research within the comics field.
